The GMC powertrain warranty includes those components that fall within the scope of the GMC factory warranty. This warranty covers any powertrain repairs needed to correct defects in materials or workmanship. The powertrain coverage includes components in the engine, transmission, transaxle, and drivetrain systems. The GMC powertrain warranty begins on the date the vehicle is delivered (  in service date ) to its first new vehicle owner or whenever the vehicle was first put into use.

What is Covered Under the GMC Powertrain Warranty?

Under the GMC powertrain warranty the following components are covered: Engine Warranties the cylinder heads and block and all internal parts, rocker covers and oil pan, valve train and front cover, timing chain and tensioner, oil pump, water pump and fuel pump, fuel injectors, intake and exhaust manifolds and supercharger, flywheel, seals, and gaskets; Transmission and Transaxle Warranties the case and all internal parts, seals and gaskets, clutch cover and housing, and electronic transmission controls; while the Drivetrain Warranties the drive shafts, final drive housing and all internal parts, propeller shafts, universal joints, bearings, seals and gaskets.

The GMC powertrain coverage applies to those components listed above, for those components not listed or that which is listed under the What is Not Covered section refer to the GMC Warranty booklet.

How long is the GMC Powertrain Coverage?

Powertrain coverage begins with the the new vehicle limited warranty, in which starts upon first ownership or use of the vehicle. For 2007 thru 2011 GMC models, the coverage extends until the GMC vehicle has reached either 5 years or 100,000 miles, whichever comes first. There are no restrictions on how many GMC owners this coverage extends to. There are no steps needed to transfer this GMC warranty to a new owner.

2001 thru 2006 GMC models have a powertrain warranty that applies for 3 years or 36,000 miles, whichever comes first.

There are extended car warranties available that will extend the powertrain coverage beyond the GMC powertrain warranty expiration.
