Kia Powertrain Warranty

When a new Kia is purchased it comes with the Kia powertrain warranty as part of the Kia factory warranty. It covers the cost of repairs to the engine, transmission and drive systems if the part or parts failed due to a material defect or workmanship. The Kia powertrain warranty begins on the day it is delivered to the first owner  (in-service date) or the day it is first put into use.

What Is Covered Under the Kia Powertrain Warranty?

Under the Kia powertrain warranty the engine and it's components such as the cylinder block, cylinder head and all internal parts, timing gear, valve cover, flywheel, oil pump, water pump, and seals and gaskets are covered.  The transmission and transaxle warranty covers transmission case and all internal parts, the torque converter, drive shafts, universal joints, front hubs, bearings, seals and gaskets. The drive system warranty includes the front and rear differential assemblies, cases, all internal parts,  the drive shafts, universal joints axle shafts and C-V joints including coupling, hub, wheel bearings and seals and gaskets.

How Long is The Kia Powertrain Warranty?

The Kia powertrain warranty is valid for 10 years or 100,000 miles, whichever comes first. It begins the day the vehicle is delivered to the first owner or the first day it is put into use. The Kia powertrain warranty applies to the original owner only. Subsequent owners will have powertrain coverage under the new vehicle limited warranty which is valid for 5 years or 60,000 miles.   

Year 2000 Kia models sold before July, 10th 2000 have a powertrain warranty that applies for 5 years or 60,000 miles, whichever comes first.

If coverage is desired after the Kia powertrain warranty is expired, then an extended car warranty is an option to extend powertrain coverage.
