Smart Basic Warranty

You are here

Every new Smart vehicle comes with a limited factory warranty. The Smart basic warranty, commonly known as a bumper-to-bumper warranty, covers repairs needed due to manufacturer defect or workmanship. The warranty covers most components of a new Smart and begins the day of delivery to the first owner (in-service date) or the first date of use.

What is Covered Under the Smart Basic Warranty?

The Smart basic warranty covers most components of a new Smart vehicle that fail due to manufacturer defect or workmanship. Wear and tear items such as, wiper blade inserts, balancing, alignment, clutch, and the windshield, and rear window covered as well, but under a limited warranty. The Smart basic warranty covers the items mentioned above. For a complete list of items not covered, refer to the "What is Not Covered" section in the Smart warranty booklet.

How Long is the Smart Basic Warranty?

The Smart basic warranty applies for 2 years or 24,000 miles, whichever comes first. The warranty on wear and tear items and the windshield and rear window applies for 12 months or 12,000 miles. The Smart basic warranty begins on the delivery date or the first day of use. It is also transferable from one Smart owner to the next and there are no limits on how many owners the vehicle can have in order for the warranty to be valid.

*The Smart basic warranty information was obtained from the 2011 Smart New Vehicle Limited Warranty booklet. For the latest information advise the limited warranty section of your warranty booklet.
