Smart Powertrain Warranty

Unlike some car manufacturers, Smart does not offer a separate powertrain warranty. Repairs needed to the components of the powertrain, such as the engine, transmission, transaxle, and drive train systems, are covered under the Smart limited factory warranty if the failures are due to manufacturer defects or workmanship. The powertrain and its components are covered for 2 years or 24,000 miles, whichever comes first and begins the date the vehicle is delivered to first owner (in-service date) or the date of first use.

While Smart does now offer a separate powertrain warranty, there are auto extended warranties that will cover repairs to the powertrain and its components after the Smart limited factory warranty has expired.
