You are here

Every new Volkswagen vehicle comes with a limited factory warranty. Part of the factory warranty includes a basic warranty, or commonly know as a bumper-to-bumper warranty. The Volkswagen basic warranty covers repairs made to the vehicle if the failure is due to a manufacturer defect or workmanship. The Volkswagen basic warranty begins the day the vehicle is delivered to the first owner (in-service date) or the date of first use.

What is Covered Under the Volkswagen Basic Warranty?

Under the Volkswagen basic warranty repairs to most components of the vehicle are covered if they fail because of a manufacturer defect or workmanship.Wear and tear items and adjustments are covered as well under a separate limited warranty.

The Volkswagen basic warranty covers what is listed above. For a complete list of what is not covered refer to the "What is Not Covered" section of the Volkswagen warranty booklet.

How Long is the Volkswagen Basic Warranty?

The Volkswagen basic warranty applies for 3 years or 36,000 miles, whichever comes first. The wear and tear items, except for wiper blade inserts, are covered for 1 year or 12,000 miles. The Volkswagen basic warranty  is transferable from one Volkswagen owner to the next with no work needed from the previous owner and there is no limit to how many owners the vehicle can have in order for the warranty to be valid.
