Volvo Basic Warranty

You are here

Every new Volvo comes with a limited factory warranty. The Volvo basic warranty, commonly known as a bumper-to-bumper warranty, covers any repairs needed due to manufacturer defects or workmanship. The basic warranty covers most components of a new Volvo including the battery, adjustments, and accessories. The Volvo basic warranty starts with the first date of delivery to it's new owner (in-service date) or the date of first use.

What is Covered Under the Volvo Basic Warranty?

The Volvo basic warranty covers most components of a new Volvo, including the battery and accessories. Adjustments and wear and tear items are covered under a separate limited warranty. For the accessories to be covered they must be Volvo approved accessories that are purchased from a Volvo retailer at the time of the purchase of the vehicle.

While most parts are covered, there are restrictions and exclusions. For those parts not covered look in the "What is Not Covered Section" in the Volvo warranty booklet.

How long is the Volvo Basic Warranty?

The Volvo basic warranty is 4 years or 50,000 miles which ever comes first, and begins on the delivery date to the first Volvo owner or the first date of use. Adjustments and wear and tear items are covered for 1 year or 12,000 miles. This warranty is transferable from one Volvo owner to the next with very little work needed on the part of the pervious owner. Plus, there is no limit on the number of owners that a particular Volvo vehicle can have in order for the warranty to remain valid.

*The Volvo Basic Warranty information was obtained form the 2012 Volvo Warranty and Maintenance Records Information booklet.  For the latest information please advise the New Vehicle Limited warranty section of your booklet.
