Save Money on Gas

Gas prices are on the rise and everyone is looking for ways to spend less at the pump. While there is not much you can do about the price of gas, there are things you can do to reduce how often you are at the pump.

  • Make sure that your tires maintain proper tire pressure. If the pressure is too low or too high, adjust it to the label inside the door or the fuel filler door
  • Get rid of excess weight. The heavier your vehicle is the more gas it will use. Keep only what you need on a daily basis and remove the items that are taking up space and burning fuel.
  • Make sure that any plastic pieces under the car are properly attached. If they are not properly attached, or even missing, that can created drag and reduce your fuel economy.
  • Don’t have a lead foot. Full throttle accelerations from a traffic light can waste up to 40% of your fuel and going over 55 miles per hour can cost you up to 25 cent per gallon. Let off the gas, and take life at a slower pace.

Just because you don't have the most fuel efficient car, doesn't mean that you have to spend tons of money at the pump. By doing these few steps can improve your fuel economy, saving you time and money at the pump. And those are things that we could all use more of.
