Auto Warranty

You are here

An auto warranty is a common term used when referencing a service contract or car warranty. While many variations of warranties exist, an auto warranty to a consumer usually means they are referring to a vehicle protection plan. An extended auto warranty is typically available on any make or model vehicle by a warranty administrator as long it is eligible for coverage. An auto warranty, no matter if it is a service contract or a car warranty would cover mechanical breakdown due to workmanship or defect of the vehicle components that the warranty agreement indicates coverage for.

Car Safety

Car safety has more to do with safety ratings of the vehicle. Motor vehicle crashes are one of the leading causes of death in the U.S.. According to the Center for Disease Control,  in 2009 more than 2.3 million adult drivers and passengers received emergency room treatment for injuries suffered in car crashes. The economic impact of vehicle crashes is also notable. The CDC noted that  the lifetime costs of crash-related deaths and injuries among drivers and passengers were $70 billion in 2005.
