The suspension coil springs are used to support the weight of the vehicle and determine the height at which it sits on the road. They  allow the suspension system to move and adapt to changes in the road. Most vehicles have front and rear coils springs. Failure of the coil spring could be caused by a weak shock absorber or they could fail is the vehicle carries more weight than it is designed for. When they fail, or begin to fail, it is time for a coil spring replacement.

To perform a coil spring replacement, the technician removes the suspension. Using special tools, then they decompress the springs and remove them. Finally, using the same tool, the, the new spring is installed and the suspension is reinstalled.

Many manufacturer's cover a coil spring replacement under the bumper-to-bumper warranty portion of the factory warranty. There are extended auto warranties available that will cover the cost of replacing the coil springs. When choosing coverage, but sure to look at the various plans to see which one will cover the coil springs.
