Exhaust Manifold

You are here

In a internal combustion engine, an exhaust manifold is a simple cast iron or stainless steel unit connected to the cylinder head. An exhaust manifold receives gases from the engines cylinder(s) and redirects those gases to he exhaust pipe(s). An exhaust manifold under normal wear and tear conditions can crack which will lead to its failure to perform. This can be a result of improper engine tuning, over heating, age, corrosion or simply normal wear and tear. However more commonly the exhaust manifold gasket will crack, break, shrink or be improperly installed. In which may result in further damage to the engine and exhaust manifold itself. Typically the exhaust manifold warranty is included in the engine components section of the factory warranty, however can also be covered for mechanical defect or workmanship under the federal emissions warranty. An extended powertrain warranty may also cover the exhaust manifold, while adding seals and gaskets coverage will cover the exhaust manifold gasket under the extended warranty as well.
