Subaru Powertrain Warranty Coverage

You are here

The Subaru Powertrain Warranty is an extension of the Subaru new car warranty. The Subaru powertrain warranty covers any repairs made to the components of the engine, transmission, transaxle, and drive systems if the failure is caused by a  manufacturer defect or workmanship. The Subaru powertrain warranty begins at the first date of delivery to the new owner (in-service date) or the first date of use.

What is Covered under the Subaru Powertrain Warranty?

Under the Subaru powertrain warranty,  the engine and most components such as the cylinder block and head and all internal parts, timing gears or belts and gaskets, water pump, intake and exhaust manifolds, flywheel, oil pump, oil pan, oil seals, and gaskets. There is also a transaxle and differential section of the Subaru powertrain warranty which includes the transaxle case and internal parts, the torque converter, electronic transmission control unit, seals and gaskets, axle shafts and constant velocity joints (excluding boots), the propeller shaft, and wheel bearings.

The Subaru powertrain warranty covers the components listed above. For a complete list of what is not covered under the powertrain warranty, look under the "What is Not Covered Section" of the Subaru warranty booklet.

How Long is the Subaru Powertrain Warranty?

The Subaru powertrain warranty applies for 5 years or 60,000 miles, whichever comes first. The warranty is transferable from one Subaru owner to the next with very little work needed on the part of the previous owner. Also, there is no limit on the number of owners the vehicle can have in order for the warranty to be valid.

If extended coverage is needed there are extended car warranties available that will extend the powertrain coverage beyond the Subaru Powertrain warranty.
