Kia Basic Warranty

You are here

Every new Kia comes with a limited factory warranty. The Kia basic warranty, commonly known as a bumper-to-bumper warranty, covers any repairs needed due to manufacturer defects or workmanship. The basic warranty covers most components of a new Kia including the battery, paint, and audio equipment. The Kia basic warranty starts with the first date of delivery to it's new owner (in-service date) or the date of first use.

What is Covered Under the Kia Basic Warranty?

The Kia basic warranty covers most components of a new Kia. Paint, batteries, and audio equipment are covered as well under a separate limited warranty. If any of the covered parts fail due to manufacturer defect or workmanship, then the Kia basic warranty will cover the cost of parts and labor.

While most parts are covered, there are restrictions and exclusions. For those parts not covered look in the "What is Not Covered Section" in the Kia warranty booklet.

How Long is the Kia Basic Warranty?

The Kia basic warranty is 5 years or 60,000 miles, whichever comes first. The warranty that covers the paint and audio is valid for 3 years or 36,000 miles and the battery is covered for 1 year regardless of mileage. The Kia basic warranty begins on the delivery date to the first Kia owner or the first date of use. This warranty is transferable from one Kia owner to the next with very little work needed on the part of the pervious owner. Plus, there is no limit on the number of owners that a particular Kia vehicle can have in order for the warranty to remain valid.

*The Kia basic warranty information was obtained form the 2011 Kia Warranty & Consumer Information Manual.  For the latest information please advise the New Vehicle Limited warranty section of your booklet.
